Disclaimer: Online learning is not for everyone. You need to be self-motivated, organized enough to adhere to due dates, and willing to log in to Canvas at least 3 times a week. Checking email, daily, is important as well.
INSTRUCTIONAL GOALS:
STUDY AND TEST-TAKING TECHNIQUES Skills necessary for success in college:
- Reading textbooks
- Taking lecture notes
- Studying
- Taking tests
- Managing time
- Reducing test anxiety
Student Learning Outcomes:
- Select and use appropriate study strategies when encountering new academic issues
- Select and demonstrate study and test taking strategies to meet the demands of college courses
- Transfer and apply appropriate study skills to improve academic success Understand and apply learning styles, goal setting, and time management principles
- Transfer and apply outlining, summarizing, note taking, and following directions to improve academic performance in college courses
- Apply study skills to enhance life-long learning both within and outside academic settings
Required:

- Complete modules, assignments, journal entries as stated in Modules and Assignments area of Canvas

To successfully complete this course, you must:
- Write a realistic (attainable) academic goal statement for the semester.
- Develop and implement specific strategies to achieve the goal.
- Evaluate progress toward achieving the goal.
- Evaluate positive and negative influences on goal attainment.
- Complete course work by due dates.
POLICIES AND PROCEDURES
REMEMBER bullying, unkindness, or harassment in this course will not be tolerated so if you cannot write something positive, then don't write it at all.
General Rules: Coursework, divided into modules, opens Sunday of each week. Modules will run in two-week increments with due dates dispersed evenly throughout. Please pay attention to due dates. 10% will be deducted from the grade earned. Call or email if you are having difficulty with the assigned work.
Grading Policies: This is a 3-unit credit/ no credit class. To earn 3 units of credit, you must:
- Participate in class discussions and activities to earn weekly points by dates indicated.
- Score at least a 70% average on homework and class assignments.
- Score at least 70% on both the midterm and the final exam.
