Checking In at the Check-in Tables

Line up in the appropriate check-in table upon arriving. This does NOT determine what side you can line up.
- A-K Last names (Check-in Table #1, left side)
- L-Z Last names (Check-in Table #2, right side)
- Check-in Table #3, on left side for those that did not attend the rehearsal
Pick up a graduate information card from the check-in table.
Fill it out with your name and ONLY one degree.
Hold on to your card and go line up in one of the rows. DO NOT lose this card.
You will hand your card to the name reader when you walk up to the stage.
- If you attend the rehearsal, we will collect your card at the end of the rehearsal. You will pick it up in the evening at the check-in tables.
- If you cannot attend the rehearsal, then plan to arrive early in the evening and check-in at table #3 to receive your card and instructions.
  - We encourage you to read carefully all these instructions prior to arriving in the evening.

Line up of Graduates

First come, first served! Seating is not in alpha order by last name or by major.
- If you arrive early, you will be in the front rows. If you arrive late, you will be in the back rows.
ASNVC Board Members sit in the first row on the right side. (You will be in row #1.)
Nursing, Psychiatric Technician and Respiratory Therapy graduates can opt to sit as a group/cohort in one or two rows (on the same side), but all have to line up around the same time (no later than 5:30 p.m.)
- There will be NO SAVING of spots for any late arrivals once the count begins (to make sure all 15 seats on each row are filled).
- Nursing = white gowns, PTECH = grey gowns, RESP = blue gowns; General grads = green gowns (see pictures from previous ceremonies)
There will be 11 rows of 15 seats on each side with each row #1, 2, 3, 4….#15.
Take a spot in one the #s written on the blue painter's tape on the floor when you arrive.
All graduates will be lining up on East (Napa) side under the bleachers based on how you arrive.
- Suggestion: Tell your family members/guests in advance what side they should sit, so they can see you during the procession.

Procession (start of Ceremony)

The Board of Trustees will start the procession followed by the faculty and staff.
An administrator, wearing a black gown, will lead the graduates to follow the procession.
- Row 1 will start walking, followed by row 2, then row 3, etc.
- The first student on each row will have a paddle noting Row 1, Row 2, Row 3, etc. so everyone can see where each row starts and ends.
The procession will follow the whole length of the ball field, in a single line, waving at the audience sitting on the bleachers.
Graduates will pair up with another graduate at the Napa End zone, to walk to the stage up the middle of the aisle the same way the faculty entered. See the attached layouts.
Make sure to pace yourself and leave a 3-second space between the student in front of you.
Each row will be labeled Row 1, Row 2, Row 3.
Remain standing upon arriving at your seat and make sure you are directly in front of a chair.

- Upon approaching the seats, make sure you enter the row that you were in when you lined-up.
- The administrator that led the graduates will monitor that you go into the correct row.

Recession (end of ceremony)

After the last speakers, graduates will celebrate, cheer and/or hug, etc. There won't be time to throw your caps into the air.
Within a 1 minute or so the recession will start to exit the green turf the same way you came in.
An announcement will be made to start getting ready to follow the Board of Trustees and faculty.
The Board of Trustees will exit first, then followed by faculty.
Each row will be prompted to exit starting with Row 1, Row 2, Row 3.

The only difference is that the graduate sitting on the middle aisle on each row will now be the leader of that row.
